NOTICE

The Iracambi Geographic Information System (I-GIS) overview web-site has moved to www.iracambi.com/I_GIS.

This site will remain on the air for the near future but will no longer be updated, so please go to the new site for information for current and future I-GIS team members. The site is categorized the same way a GIS project framework to make the system easily understood. First, this document describes the I-GIS Strategy and Planning. This phase examines the I-GIS role in Iracambi as well as the I-GIS team's role. Second, this document establishes the I-GIS "Project Framework" so that the system infrastructure integrates the user community and remains constant. The decisions made were based on thorough assessments and are all documented in the Analysis and Design phase. Third, this document discusses the Implementation of the I-GIS. This primarily concerns the future development of the I-GIS. Finally, the Support phase provides the necessary information for everyday GIS tasks.

  • Key Terms:
    • Iracambi - The organization providing the hardware, software and base-layer data.
    • I-GIS (Iracambi Geographic Information System) - The GIS infrastructure at Iracambi consisting of the interactions between the user communities, databases, templates and the I-GIS team.
    • I-GIS Team (Iracambi Geographic Information System Team) - The people central to the I-GIS because they provide support, maintenance and designs.

Iracambi Geographic Information Systems Project Framework

The "Project Framework" represents a road map for coordinators to successfully lead the implementation of Iracambi's GIS as well as provide beginner users with the basics. The "Project Framework is subcategorized into three main categories: Strategy and Planning, Analysis and Design and Implementation. Implementation is further divided into three more phases. These pages are specifically for advanced GIS users and GIS coordinators. The final phase, Support describes the basics of GIS and contains all the "How To" manuals for the everyday use of the I-GIS.

The diagram below depicts how the I-GIS project framework phases flow. Use the links to the left to and above to view the various phases.
